My Birth Philosophy:

It is my hope to help a woman and her partner achieve the best birth experience possible. I feel this can be achieved by providing the mother and partner with information, support, and encouragement from a loving heart throughout the entire labor process. I hope to enable the mother and her partner to trust the labor process and her ability to deliver her baby in the way that she wishes. I hope to give the parents the confidence to make decisions that they can be satisfied with to protect their memories of the miracle of life. I feel every woman deserves a Doula.

What Is A Doula?

A Doula is a woman who attends the birthing family before, during, and just after the baby is born. The Doula is trained to deliver emotional support from home to the hospital. She helps with the transition into the hospital environment.  Through changes in hospital shifts and alternating physician schedules, she serves as an advocate, labor coach, and support partner, to give the mother and her partner the added comfort of additional support throughout the entire labor. She provides emotional, physical, and informational support that empowers the laboring woman and her birth partner, who might otherwise feel overwhelmed by the powerful and amazing miracle of childbirth, to have a beautiful and satisfying delivery.

Studies show that Doula attended births have:

  •    C-Sections reduced by 50%
  •    Length of labor reduced by 25%
  •    Reduction of epidural requests by 60%
  •    Oxytocin reduced by 40%
  •   Reduction in analgesia use by  30%
  •   Reduction of forceps and vacuum delivery by 40%

A women’s emotional support team is vital to her birth experience. Advocates who are there for her are necessary to help protect her memory of her birthing experience. Research has shown that most women attended by a Doula at birth have better outcomes and are more satisfied with their births. This is because a Doula encourages a woman to trust her body, equips her with the knowledge she needs to make informed decisions about her birth. She surrounds her with compassionate support and empowers new mothers to embrace motherhood with confidence.
