Personal Background

I am 33 years old. I have been married for 12 years. I have a wonderful husband and have three beautiful children.

I have a five-year-old little girl, a three-year-old little boy, and a sixteen-month-old sweet little baby.

With my first two children I had Anemia and Preecalmpsia. My first child was posterior and hard to deliver. During her delivery I broke her clavicle and several ribs. With my second child he was easy just a push and a half. I had a vaginal delivery with both of them. My third child I had Anemia, Gestational Diabetes, and she was Footling Breech. I was scheduled to have a C-Section on a Monday but she came fast on that Saturday. Her feet were already presenting and there was me conium when my water broke. I barely made it to the hospital. So I had an emergency C-Section. All of this sounds scary but I was well informed and had a great support system set up. I loved every minute of all my births and only have great memories of them. They grow up so quickly so it is very important to enjoy and embrace every second of your pregnancy, labor, and your precious baby.

My Credentails

I am a Certified Labor Doula Through CAPPA. I am a current member of CAPPA. Memberships: Colorado Doula Association, Longmont Doulas, and Northern Colorado Doula Association.  I have gone through three separate series of Childbirth Education courses. I am experienced in high risk pregnancies and labors. I also work alot with Teen Mothers. I can provide physical comfort through massage (I have many massage tools), aromatherapy, acupressure, position changes (I provide a Birthing Ball for use during labor), Rebozo, breathing and complete love for what I do.

Why I became a Doula

There are so many reasons why I became a Doula and Childbirth Educator. I have been helping with births for many years. Friends and family members. Thats how it all started. I just loved helping them out and being support for them. It seemed like I was ment to do this. What kick started my Doula services was the wonderful care I had from my Care Providers. I loved my doctors and their nurses. The love and special care they gave me made me want to help other women. I believe I had extra special treatment because my husband did not take a big role in my pregnancies. Don’t get me wrong he’s a great husband but really just didn’t get into it. He was more of an after birth support person. He loves being a daddy, when they are there to see, not in the belly. I believe he benefited from my caregivers wonderful support. Their support helped him relax and have not so much pressure. So that is why extra support was vital to me. I knew there had to be other women out there with the same situation as me. I have come to find out there are many reasons women need additional support. I love to cherish women during their pregnancies and labor. I truly believe I was born to be a Doula. I love helping women and their partners through this amazing time in their lives.
